Happy Fall, y’all! It may not feel ANYTHING like Fall here in Houston, but that doesn’t stop us from busting out all of those orange hues and daydreaming about that first “cool” front of the season. Am I right fellow Texans? Now that Labor Day is over, I always start thinking about Fall decorating. This is when I start browsing online for new Fall decor items, and assessing the areas of my home that I plan on decorating. I try and change it up a little every year to keep it feeling fresh and new. I have my tried and true favorite pieces that I bring out every year, but try and change up where I place them. I like to get out my Fall decor bins and start taking inventory of what I want to use this year, and what maybe needs to be retired. Since this will be my first year decorating in our new home, the prep work is a little more involved. There are new spaces that may call for some new pieces, so that means it’s time to shop!
First up, I wanted to share my entryway Fall decor for this year. Other than the piece of furniture, everything is new! This is usually where I start decorating. It’s the first thing guests see when they walk inside, so I like to start here to sort of set the tone for the rest of my decorating.
I am loving how it turned out! We’ve had this entryway piece for a couple years now, and it’s perfect. It has a shallow profile and TONS of storage. It was purchased from Home Source Furniture here in Houston, along with practically every other piece of furniture in my house. If you’ve never heard of Home Source, then let me let you in on Houston’s best kept secret. This place is my jam. They source reclaimed wood from all over the world and transform them into the most unique pieces of art. While their finishes are standard (for the most part), the individual pieces of furniture are not mass produced and inventory is limited. For me that’s part of the charm. I love knowing that there aren’t a ton of other people out there with the same pieces in their homes. That being said though, if you love something it’s best to snatch it up before it’s gone. They have two locations, one in the Galleria area and (my personal favorite) their warehouse is at I-10 and Beltway 8. You can spend hours roaming the warehouse inventory and finding treasures you didn’t know you needed. Be warned though, the warehouse is not air conditioned so I wouldn’t recommend it at the moment. Luckily, my piece is still available (and on sale)! Everything will be linked at the end of the post. I’m also going to link some similar entryway pieces in case you need something larger or smaller!
I also purchased these black window frame mirrors (3) from Amazon. I’d been searching for months now for the perfect mirrors to go in this space. I had something particular in mind but couldn’t ever seem to find exactly what I was looking for at the right price point (mirrors are so dang expensive)! I finally came across these on Amazon and they are perfect. The black contrasts nicely with the rustic elements of the furniture, and I think they really pop! These are also available at Target if you prefer that retailer.
Speaking of Target… You won’t find an area of my home that doesn’t have at least one Target item in it! There are three Hearth & Handâ„¢ with Magnolia pieces featured here. The recycled glass vases, faux yellow locust stems and the faux cypress garland. These stems are GORGEOUS and the Fall color it brings to my space is out of this world, and they really pop up against the black mirrors. The size is substantial (46″, but they come in other sizes) and I only needed two per vase to make a statement. The vases are so unique (these are the 20″ size). I love their asymmetrical imperfections and their slightly blue hue is really pretty. Especially in a bright entryway where the light reflects through them! The cypress garland added just a touch of greenery around my pumpkins and will also work great for Christmas time!
Last up are the pumpkins. I can’t link these bad boys, unfortunately. They were purchased from Michaels and I can’t find them online. You might try your local store and see if they have them in stock. I used four different kinds (the orange ones are the same but I used two sizes). You could easily recreate this with the pumpkins you have on hand. I think it’s less about variety of pumpkin types and more about overall color schemes. What goes best with your furniture an other decor pieces you’re using? I wanted to tie in the orange from the locust stems but wanted something more muted rather than a bright, traditional orange. Then I used the green and white pumpkins to tie in the tones from the furniture and the pant color on my walls (SW Shiitake).
Well, what do y’all think? I’m loving the end result. I feel like its simple yet elegant. I need to find a runner to complete the space. To dress this up for Halloween, I’m going to add these Grandin Road felt bats around the mirrors!
I hope this was helpful and provides some inspiration for your own spaces. All items are linked below. Be sure to save to your Pinterest board for reference. Happy Fall decorating!
