Entryway Refresh

I’m normally not one to change things up too drastically in my home. I love to restyle shelves and swap out throw pillows, but I don’t usually ever re-design a space and do a complete 180 when it comes to style. This entryway refresh was a very spontaneous and impromptu project. The style inspiration hit me one dreary Sunday afternoon and I just couldn’t shake it! I had to try and make my vision come to life (because in my head it was so chic and modern). So I decided to chase it. I wasn’t sure if it would ultimately come together or even work in the end, but here we are and I am LOVING IT.

Ultimately I was going for a more modern, curated look with interesting and unique pieces. I wanted to add some drama with an extra large mirror, and I was visualizing some minimalist artwork layered around it. I knew I’d need to add some dimension with larger sculptural pieces, and no space is ever complete without some greenery. With these items in mind I hit the internet and started searching!

SHOP THE POST

My biggest tip when it comes to a re-style or refresh and you’re purchasing new pieces – don’t buy things just because they “fit” in the space. Take your time and don’t purchase the first thing you see that might work. Instead start a working list of all the things you think might work in the space. Once you see all the pieces together visually it will help you to make final decisions. Mood boards are especially helpful for things like this! Try and buy pieces that speak to you personally (this is especially important when buying art). Don’t be afraid to DIY a painting or change up the color of a planter/vase if you want something custom! Thrift, antique and vintage stores are great places to find one of a kind treasures.

Let’s get to it! I am so happy with how this turned out, and the change is such a breathe of fresh air in my entryway! (This is a tough spot to photograph. It’s in the middle of my house so the lighting is low and the space is long and narrow, so it’s hard to get a head on shot).

I will link everything I used in the space, but some items are now sold out (boo). Be sure to set restock alerts! I will also link similar pieces at the end of the post that have the same look and feel. Quick note about the large sketch of the woman. I purchased this piece from At Home and I can’t find it anywhere on their website. I’ll keep checking for a link but you may need to check your local stores to see if they have it in stock! Again, I will link similar art options at the end of the post.

Another note about the planter. I needed a specific size and shape planter to fit the base of the faux tree. This Studio McGee with Threshold pot was perfect, but it was the wrong color. With a little black spray paint and some dirt, I transformed it into what you see above in the photos! Check out my dirt paint DIY highlight on my Instagram page here for all the details.

Quick note about the mirror I used. It’s currently sold out, but you can set a restock alert! The brand is Uttermost, which is a wholesaler. I’m going to link the exact mirror on their website here in case you have an in with an interior designer who can order it for you!

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did! Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or would like me to source similar pieces. I’m always happy to help!
